featured color: green
the word green comes from the old english word growan which means “to grow.” as one of the only colors we see in nature during winter months, green reminds of us of life…which is appropriate since the color is associated with rebirth, fertility and renewal. in ancient egypt, green was a symbol of resurrection and immortality, and the god osiris was depicted as having green skin. in persian and sudanese poetry, women who were highly desired were also referred to as having “green skin,” and during medieval times, the color represented love and lust. green is also linked to environmentalism, and a person who works well with plants & flowers is said to have a “green thumb.” green flowers are associated with health, resilience and youth, so sending a bouquet of green flowers will certainly send a message of good fortune!
